The Platform Engineer IV is responsible for designing, developing and implementing new technologies, as required, to support the technical capabilities of Enterprise Data Services at Cox Communications. To be successful in this role one must be able to work effectively in a fluid, fast-paced environment. This role requires good communication skills, both with team members and business contacts. In addition, the successful Platform Engineer IV must be able to work with minimal supervision on multiple concurrent projects.
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
•Design and build tools and frameworks that support automated deployment and management of Data Support Systems platforms
•Responsible for automation and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD), improving overall time to market while reducing costs and errors in deployment, validation and rollback.
•Researches and brainstorms with internal stakeholders to identify opportunities to advance automation, support decision-making, gain insights from data, streamline business processes, and enable new “shift-left” capabilities such as self-healing
•Responsible for configuration, optimization, documentation and support of the software components of Data Support Systems software products.
•Foster collaboration with software development, architecture, and infrastructure teams to ensure releases are delivered with repeatable and auditable processes.
•Work independently and in teams across multiple platforms and applications to understand dependencies.
•Evaluate new tools, technologies, and processes to improve speed, efficiency, and scalability of Data Support Systems continuous integration environments.
•Teach and encourage a balanced backlog that delivers valuable features for customers, reduces technical debt, provides business value, and enables product sustainability
•Organize and produce relevant training materials for members of Tier 3 support teams to foster adoption of the CI/CD toolset and processes.
•10 or more years of experience required in related field (i.e. Information Technology, Information Management, Computer Engineering)
•5 or more years of experience required if candidate possesses a related advanced degree
•Excellent interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills to work effectively with teams throughout organization
•Deep Subject matter expertise in three of the following Oracle, SQL Sqlserver, mysql, Mongo databases, Golden Gate, Hadoop Apache products: Hive, Hbase, Kafka, Spark, Ni-fi, Sqoop, Tableau, OBIEE, Informatica
• Strong knowledge of SCM tools (Git/GitHub/BitBucket), Test Automation Tools (Cucumber, Selenium, Jira), Config/Provisioning Tools (Jenkins/Salt/Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes), Scripting Tools
•Ability to build end-to-end solutions
•BS/BA in related discipline strongly desired (Information Technology, Information Management, Computer Engineering)
•Experience in Agile SCRUM methodologies
•Experience in IT Service Management (ITSM), ISTQB Advanced Test Automation, Cloud Technologies
